Purewolf/Awoolybrushed Zipdouble

A softer and lighter wooly flannel of our dreams. Made from the same intimately blended wool and polyester yarn that powers its older sibling Awoolyflannel. The Awoolybrushed is similarly dry, warm and very stable but weighs in on the lighter side of midweight at 220gsm.

Woven by Albini in northern Italy using yarns from the wool masters at Suedwolle. When done right, wool and poly combine to create a double dryness that’s amazing to wear in damp weather. Wool is hygroscopic, it sucks moisture out the air while remaining dry to the touch and is the only common insulation that keeps working while wet. Polyester on the other hand absorbs practically no moisture into its fibers (technically it absorbs 0.4% of its weight) while wicking water across its surface for faster evaporation. Plus the poly makes the wool dramatically easier to take care of. The net result is a dry delight, that’s as easy to wear as it is to take care of.

A lightweight 100% pure wool fleece. 250gsm of 100% virgin merino wool, knit in Italy into a fluffy delirium of airy warm goodness. “Fleece” in the contemporary sense usually means a fluffy polyester imitation of a warm sheepskin. Purewolf takes things a full circle, using a traditional polyester “fleece” knit structure with the real deal source material, merino wool.

Merino of course is nature’s finest performance fiber, absorbing water vapor while repelling liquid water to create a dry microclimate around the body while retaining its insulation capabilities in wet conditions. Plus it’s naturally odor resistant and comfortable in a wide range of temperatures. You can think of this as a fluffed up sweater or a fleece gone back to it roots, either way it’s a lightweight and warm joy to wear.
