Outlier makes high performance clothing for the wild/city. Durable, breathable and experimental garments designed for free movement worldwide, without borders.
Our approach to design is grounded in a deep materialism, everything we do starts with respect for the raw materials. Our process is intensely experimental, it is only by pushing material and forms past their limits that we can truly understand how things work and how far they can go. We love creating new things but we are not interested in novelty, only new functionalities. It is only by moving at the rhythm of the earth that we can separate accelerated garbage from true progress and move forward at human speeds. The information apocalypse has already happened, our goal is to design clothing to navigate this new future.
While we may be a business, we believe profit should never be the main reason a company exists. Businesses need money the same way humans need water. It is essential to function, but the less we need to think about it the better off we are. A healthy organization creates value that extends far beyond money and into all points of its operation; from suppliers to employees and from customers into communities across the globe.
Outlier was founded by Abe Burmeister and Tyler Clemens in 2008 and is based in New York City.

We want you to try on and test our clothes freely without stress or worry. All items purchased on our site, unless clearly noted otherwise, can be returned for any reason for up to 17 days after the date of delivery. Return shipping in the US is free, return shipping internationally, unfortunately, is not. Just make sure the items are clean! We reserve the right to reject returns that smell or are otherwise unsanitary.
We also reserve the right to take away return privileges from customers we deem to engage in a pattern of excessive and/or abusive returns.

Items with “Final Sale” in their name or description can not be returned, exchanged or refunded.
Items received in WTF Packs can not be returned or refunded.
We use a third-party service called Loop Returns to help process our returns. You can use it to exchange for any in-stock product or return for a refund.

We aim to process all returns as swiftly as possible. The goal is always to process it the day we receive it, but at times it may take up to a week. Once your return and refund has been processed, you’ll receive an email notification confirming the refund. The money is taken from our account immediately, but it may take a few days for it to show up on your credit card account. Each credit card company handles refunds differently so we can not give precise times on when you will get your money back.
Yes, but you will only receive a partial refund. Any price-savings from the 3-Pack or Pairing will be voided and the sum effect is that you will wind up paying the full, non-3-Pack/non-Pairing, price for each of the items that you keep. You will be refunded for the difference between the original price paid and the full retail price of any items kept.
Restocks vary greatly from product to product. Core products tend to have major restock events every couple months, seasonal products once or twice a year. Experiments do not get restocked but if successful they might return as a regular product.
On any given product page you can sign up for restock notifications by clicking on the desired size/color and filling out the restock form that pops up.
Often the easiest and fastest way to find a sold out size or color is on the secondary market. We recommend visiting the r/OutlierMarket subreddit if you are interested.
We do not currently sell gift certificates due to issues with fraud, but do offer them on occasion. Outlier reserves the right to review, reverse and cancel any gift certificate transactions, particularly those deemed fraudulent or suspicious.
We do not offer any warranty or repair guarantees but if you are having any issues with how our products are functioning please contact our customer service at OUTLIER@OUTLIER.NYC and we will do our best to figure out a solution.

Bulk buy is designed for people who 1 - know what they want 2 - want to buy in bulk AND 3 - know they don’t want to return or exchange any of those items already.
When all these things line up, it saves us money and we are happy to pass these savings along to the customer.
Only products clearly noted as "Bulk buy eligible" are eligible for the bulk buy pricing.
When three (3) or more bulk buy eligible products are being purchased within a single order, the code NO-RETURNS-BULK-BUY-NO-RETURNS can be used to activate a 15% discount on the bulk buy eligible items.
Be very aware that by using the NO-RETURNS-BULK-BUY-NO-RETURNS code you are waiving the right to return or exchange any of the items which have their prices reduced.
They don’t need to be the same product though, you can mix and match! The key thing to remember is that only products labeled “Bulk buy eligible” count toward reaching the three item threshold and the price adjustment only applies towards bulk buy eligible products.
Bulk buy eligible products can NOT, under any circumstances, be applied across multiple smaller orders.
We reserve the right to ban for life or revoke return privileges from any customer who appears to be trying to gamify the system or otherwise use it in bad faith. We also reserve the right to ban for life, or revoke return privileges from, any customer who asks us to apply bulk prices across multiple orders, the whole point of a bulk buy is to consolidate things into one order!
We ship to the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan all the time and our ecommerce system is set up to take orders from nearly anywhere in the world. Please note that we do not ship to PO boxes or APO/ DPO addresses.
Shipping via UPS Ground is $10 flat rate on all US domestic orders. Expedited shipping via FedEx for US orders is $15.
For international orders, shipping is $35 plus any applicable country-specific customs, duties, taxes and fees. International orders ship via DHL Express.
We ship Monday through Friday (with the exception of major holidays and disruptions) and we try to process all orders within one business day after receiving them, but we are a small company and in super busy times it may take slightly longer. We aim to get orders placed before 11:00am ET out the same day.
