Description

A jacket that gets the job done and then some. Horizontal split body with five external and two internal vertical pockets in the unfadable Postdenim Bombtwill. The collar and a nested chest pocket are in buttery soft Ultrasuede. A hidden placket with matte black stainless steel shanks closes it up.

Fabric Story

Lighter and stronger than denim, a hardcore twill that never fades. Rugged enough to wear for years, soft and pliable enough that you can wear it everyday.
Postdenim Bombtwill is simply black Bombtwill, except it’s not that simple. For years we’ve noticed that black dyed Bombtwill has significantly more structure than other colors of Bombtwill, and creating a technical fabric with lots of denim-like structure is why we developed Bombtwill in the first place. Eventually we decided the difference was big enough that a split was merited. Black dyed Bombtwill has earned the modifier Postdenim, while all the other colors retain the simple Bombtwill name.
The magic of Postdenim Bombtwill is twisted in the yarns and amplified in the dying process. Hundreds of tiny nylon 6,6 filaments are air-texturized and spun together into each yarn. Each filament is slightly larger than one denier and air-texturized to crimp the yarns, giving them a cotton-like spring and lingerie grade softness. Hundreds of these filaments are then twisted together to create a thick heavy-duty nylon yarn that's overspec'd for everyday wear. The warp yarns use over 200 filaments each, while the weft yarns use over 300. The weft yarns are also corespun around elastane to give the fabric a subtle two-way stretch. This is not a stretchy fabric though, you can think of it more as an absence of restriction.
What it all adds up to is a heavy duty fabric that can take a hell of a beating while staying super comfortable to wear. The weave structure is a simple 2x1 twill, weighing in at 360gsm (10.5oz) and treated with a fluorocarbon free (F0/C0/PFAS-free/PFOA-free) Zelan R3 DWR. Zelan R3 is our favorite C0 DWR as it is both the most durable we’ve tested and also has an excellent tannin stain resistance to help keep things clean. The result is a heavyweight fabric that is still lighter than most denim with a whole lot of stay-off-the-body structure. A post-apocalyptic denim if you will, but one you can wear everyday in comfort.
