Air/jex Openseas

An injection of air across the skin, hidden in a superlight warp-knit weft-insertion fabric from Japan.

Technically a knit, but with many behaviors more akin to a woven, this material transcends the traditional structural classifications of fabric while bringing its own unique properties to the forefront. At 110gsm it is extremely light, and in light colors it’s rather transparent but when printed with patterns or darker colors it becomes reasonably opaque and easy to wear. Unlike either trad knits or wovens, where most all yarns go around each other, the weft insertion yarns in this fabric lie completely flat, allowing for a more opaque structure for its weight and yarn size. This in turn creates a fabric that air flows right through almost unimpeded for maximum hot weather comfort.

Like its sibling Injected Linen, Air/jex uses columns of polyester filament in the warp. The weft insertions on Air/jex however are a spun polyester comprised of multiple size staples that have been texturized to feel similar to cotton. This combination creates a soft and superlight fabric with a serious durability for its weight and is almost impossible to wrinkle. A traveler's dream of a fabric that dries quickly, packs down to nearly nothing and requires practically zero effort to look crisp and sharp.
