Fabric Story
An extra dry polyester jersey unlike any other. Synthesized, spun and knit by Teijin in Japan, this drop jersey combines their Deltapeak yarn spinning technique with their Solotex PTT fibers to create a very different take on a high-tech synthetic fabric.
Solotex is technically a polyester, but that just means “multiple esters”, and there are many flavors of poly out there. The most common is PET, the same stuff used in plastic bottles, but Solotex is made out of PTT, a softer, springier and more resilient type of polyester with a helix molecular structure. It’s relatively rare simply because it’s more expensive to manufacture, but we love it because it captures all of polyesters super dry performance in a more comfortable form.
The Solotex is just the start though. To make DP/Helix, the Solotex fibers are then spun using Teijin’s proprietary Deltapeak yarn spinning technique. The helix structure of the Solotex means it’s already crimped but the Deltapeak process crimps them even more to create a denser and smoother yarn structure that can be used to create more balanced knits.
These Deltapeak X Solotex yarns are then knit in a drop jersey structure that creates an opaque fabric optimized for lots of air flow. All that complexity and proprietary processing adds up to something quite simple though, an exceptionally dry and more comfortable performance polyester fabric.
